TARICO, loose as issued in original wrapper, orig. unif. gilt board chemise and slipcase, folio. Maur p.499; Monod 3998: "100 Aquarelles gravées sur bois ayant nécessité 3.500 bois". The great Surrealist master Salvador Dalí interprets Dante's classic poem in this 6-volume set, which comprises 3 parts with 33 cantos in each. SOLD

DUCHAMP, Marcel

Le surrealisme en 1947. Paris Pierre A Feu, Maeght Editeur 1947. 4to, 140 pp; wrappers; boxed; from a total edition of 999 copies, of a very few copies with a three dimensional art object attached to the front cover of the chemise [Duchamp s "Priere de Toucher" (The Breast)].  The book contains 140 pages with 25 original prints by Victor Brauner, Max Ernst, Herold, Lam, Miro, Man Ray, Tanguy, Tanning, Arp, Matta. Only a few copies were accompanied by the Duchamp object, as ours, and fewer still have survived. The foam rubber breast was constructed with delicate and perishable materials; consequently, a vast majority of those that have survived are now in a seriously deteriorated state. One of 500 copies out of commerce on Maillol paper on hand-made paper, manufactured by an old process rediscovered by Aristide Maillol.
